Women’s Services

Women face unique challenges and have specific issues that general addiction treatment may not adequately address. Ashley’s addiction treatment options include the Women's Track, which includes three gender responsive meetings a week led by a female certified addiction counselor. Our Women's Track provides women the opportunity to discuss the issues that are specific to them and learn to manage those challenges in a safe and non-threatening environment.

Our Women's Services include female-only group sessions, discussions, yoga, mediation and guided imagery in addition to regular daily group therapy and women's 12 Step meetings. Our nursing and medical staff are experienced in recognizing and treating the physical issues and conditions that often accompany alcoholism and addiction in women. Our director of nursing is a woman as is our Medical Director and psychiatrist.

Father Martin’s Ashley Women’s Groups explore:

Identifying the parts of self lost to addiction (to help move women through the grieving process)

Education on the themes common among women who relapse -- shame, perfectionism, people-pleasing, care-taking, guilt

Addictive relationships and how these imitate the addictive cycle of chemical addiction

Boundary setting (why this can be difficult; identifying where boundaries need to be set, how to set boundaries)

Body Image, acceptance and empowerment

Spirituality with a feminine perspective, reclaiming the self

Young adult women will participate in both the programming for the Women's and Young Adult tracks. Patients participate in either the Primary Treatment program--for those with little prior treatment or sobriety or the Relapse Treatment program--for those who have worked 12 Steps programs and/or attained and maintained a period of sobriety.

Through women-only meetings and discussions women explore issues that pertain specifically to their gender.
