Fr. Mark Hushen, CEO, Receives Father Ralph Pfau Award

Fr. Mark Hushen, OSFS, President and CEO of the Father Martin's Ashley treatment center, was honored with the Fr. Ralph Pfau Award on July 12, 2011 in Boston, Massachusetts. The National Catholic Council of Alcoholism and Related Drug Problems presents this award annually to a Catholic priest or deacon who has helped advance recovery from addictions, both in religious life and in the general community. Father Ralph Pfau founded the NCCA in 1949, and was the first Catholic priest to recover from addiction through Alcoholics Anonymous and to give retreats to alcoholics across the United States.


Fr. Mark Hushen has been President and CEO of Father Martin’s Ashley, a nationally recognized private non-profit alcoholism and drug addiction treatment center located in Havre de Grace, Maryland, since 2007. Fr. Hushen has been a member of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales since 1985 and was ordained in 1991. He has a wealth of experience in 12 Step spirituality and alcohol and drug addiction treatment. Prior to joining Father Martin’s Ashley he served as the Director of Clinical Pastoral Care at Caron Treatment Centers in Pennsylvania. He holds a Master of Arts degree in counseling from The Catholic University of America and a Master’s of Divinity from De Sales School of Theology. Fr. Mark is a frequent speaker at recovery and spirituality workshops for lay people, mental health professionals and those in recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction.
