Financial Matters
What are the options for paying for my treatment?
-
Self-payment. For patients and families who are paying for treatment themselves, Ashley offers a three-step payment plan. Call the Admissions Office at 800.799.4673 Ext. 213 for details. Please note that a cash payment greater than $10,000 requires us to report the payment to the IRS.
-
Access Insurance Benefits. Ashley is in-network with several mental health insurance plans. If you participate in one of these plans and would like Ashley to attempt to access benefits for payment, please provide the patient’s policy information to the Ashley admissions counselor and we will provide a benefits assessment prior to admission.
Insurance benefits vary greatly. Ashley’s minimum treatment program is 28 days. If the patient’s insurance covers fewer than 28 days, the patient or guarantor will be responsible for the remainder. The amount that isn’t covered by insurance may be required upon admission. Ashley has a Utilization Review specialist who works to obtain the maximum covered benefits for each patient/family accessing insurance benefits.

-
Employer Employee Assistance Program Benefits. Some employer groups have contract agreements for treatment at Ashley. Your Ashley admission counselor can advise if the employer has a contracted rate with Ashley or you can check with the employer’s Employee Assistance Program representative.

Will insurance cover my treatment?
There is no easy answer to this question because insurance policies and procedures vary widely. Most insurance companies subcontract alcohol and addiction treatment to companies that provide case management. A case management company will review information from a patient's initial assessment to determine what level of care it deems medically necessary.
This means that even if your health insurance provides benefits for inpatient substance abuse treatment, the insurance company may not cover the course of treatment at Father Martin’s Ashley.
Prior to admission, we will verify eligibility and obtain benefit information from your insurance company. Providing a benefit is available for treatment at Ashley, our utilization review staff works on the patient’s behalf to advocate for the maximum coverage for treatment allowed under their individual insurance plan. Insurance benefits are available based on your insurance plan’s specific medical necessity criteria being met.
For insurers that Ashley is not in network with and if an out-of-network benefit is available, we submit all forms and paperwork on behalf of the patient to ensure that they receive the appropriate reimbursement for authorized services without having to complete extensive paperwork.
Insurance Information
Father Martin’s Ashley is considered an in-network provider for most Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Value Options, ComPsych, Managed Health Network, and United Behavioral Health PPO plans. Plan benefits are verified prior to admission. Authorization for an inpatient addiction treatment admission is typically required and is based upon medical necessity criteria established by your plan. Please contact the Father Martin's Ashley Admission Department for more detailed information regarding insurance benefits, medical necessity criteria, and the authorization and admission processes. 410.273.2213 or click here to email Admissions.

What if I, or the
potential patient, cannot afford treatment or is uninsured? Entering treatment is a serious and expensive decision. Our
experience shows that patients have a greater commitment to making progress in
treatment if they have made a personal investment in the cost of their care. In
certain situations the prospective patient may qualify for financial assistance
from Ashley for part of the treatment cost. Financial assistance is subject to
availability. To be considered for financial assistance the potential patient
must:
- Be highly motivated to enter treatment and serious about
recovery
-
Have limited financial resources (as well as limited immediate
family financial resources)
-
Usually has no, or is not eligible for, insurance benefits
-
Complete a financial assistance application
